About the Company
The company is a boutique advisory firm operating at the frontier of financial services, payments, and digital assets. It helps clients across Asia and China to secure overseas financial licences and acquire regulated entities, acting as their outsourced legal and compliance partner across multiple jurisdictions and regulators.
Responsibilities
- Support senior team members in regulatory licensing projects, including assisting in the preparation and submission of new license applications and supporting renewals and ongoing compliance monitoring.
- Assist in M&A transactions involving licensed entities, including documentation preparation and coordination.
- Assist with communication and coordination with regulators and authorities across multiple jurisdictions.
- Support coordination with internal and external stakeholders, including local auditors and accounting firms, consultants and law firms, and clients' compliance, legal, and management teams.
- Track licensing timelines, regulatory requirements, and key deadlines; maintain organized records and documentation.
- Assist in preparing materials and information required for licensing submissions and regulatory correspondence.
- Conduct research on licensing requirements, corporate governance, and regulatory frameworks relevant to client structures.
- Monitor regulatory updates and report relevant developments to the team.
- Assist in identifying and coordinating third-party service providers where required.
- Support ad-hoc legal, compliance, and regulatory tasks as assigned by senior team members or management.
Requirements
- Fluent in Mandarin and English (written and spoken), to support European and Chinese-speaking clients.
- Strong command of legal drafting and contract review; law degree or equivalent legal training required (bar admission not required).
- 1-2 years of experience in legal, compliance, regulatory, or related roles; law graduates with relevant internships may also be considered.
- Strong organizational and coordination skills with attention to detail.
- Clear written and verbal communication, with solid research and documentation abilities.
- Academic exposure or working knowledge of AML/CTF, KYC, regulatory compliance, or corporate governance.
- Comfortable working with multiple stakeholders across jurisdictions and time zones.
- Tech-savvy, proactive, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.
- Interest in financial services, payments, fintech, or the crypto industry.
- Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 10.30am to 7.30pm.
- Willing to work in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur.
