About the Company
The company, from humble beginnings in 1985 as a small stall in a morning market, has grown into a fresh produce importer and retailer, operating a wholesale market in Klang Valley with a diverse range of products.
Responsibilities
- Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers for non-food grocery items, including household, cleaning, personal care, paper goods, and general merchandise categories.
- Conduct regular quality checks and supplier visits to maintain product standards.
- Manage purchasing activities using inventory or procurement systems (POS, ERP, or Excel).
- Work closely with store operations, merchandising, and supply chain teams to ensure smooth product flow.
- Monitor product performance, stock levels, and market trends to make informed purchasing decisions.
- Review pricing, margins, and supplier terms to keep the non-food range competitive.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, quality assurance standards, and local regulations.
- Travel when required for supplier sourcing, product evaluation, or store-related needs.
- Support promotional activities through timely sourcing and stock allocation.
Requirements
- Possess a minimum of Secondary/SPM/'O' Level certification.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a buying, purchasing, or procurement role within the retail or wholesale sector, preferably within a supermarket environment.
- Experience with non-food grocery categories such as household, cleaning, personal care, or general merchandise is an added advantage.
- Proficient in inventory or procurement systems (POS, ERP, or Excel-based ordering).
- Strong negotiation skills with good attention to detail.
- Willingness to travel for supplier sourcing, quality checks, and store visits.
- Ability to work on public holidays when necessary.
- Required languages: English, Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin (added advantage).
- Working Hours: 6 days a week, Monday to Saturday, 8.00am to 4.30pm.
- Willing to work in Kawasan Industri Kampung Jaya, Sungai Buloh.
